Mahaska Masters April meeting minutes

OSKALOOSA

The regular meeting of the Mahaska Masters 4-H club was called to order at 7:20 p.m. by President Debbie McCrea and was held at the First Christian Church April 14.

Recreation was led by Kaden VanMaanen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Katlyn Moses. The Roll Call, “How many pets do you have at home?” was answered by 23 members, seven leaders, and two visitors. There was no correspondence. The minutes from the previous meeting were read by Megan Adams and approved. Nicole McCrea read the club’s current balance. There was a bill presented by Karen Adams for $11.97. The bill was moved by Dana VanRentergham and Ryan Smithart seconded.

Club members thanked Bank Iowa for the pizza.

Nicole McCrea reported on behalf of the fair decorating committee and Debbie McCrea announced Penny Adams represented our club at the End of the Month Meals. Kaila Wheeldon reported on the Bank Iowa Easter Egg Hunt. Ryan Smithart reported on the last Teen Council meeting and Cody Adams on the Southeast Area Council. Debbie McCrea reminded everyone on the Intermediate Dodgeball Tournament and sent around the sign-up sheet again. She then informed everyone the dates when our club could host at the Exhibit Hall at the fair and Nicole McCrea told everyone what their job was as a host or hostess. Debbie McCrea made the following announcements: Our club will be raking a yard at 303 Sheriff Ave. on April 15 starting at 5 p.m. The Intermediate Dodgeball Tournament will be Sunday, April 20, from 2 to 7 p.m. FSQA testing for seniors is Tuesday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m. Intermediate/Senior training will be Tuesday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. There will be a horse clinic at 1 p.m. at the fairgrounds and Saturday, May 3, is heifer tattooing from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Oskaloosa Livestock Auction Barn. Saturday, May 3, is also meat goat weigh-in and goes from 1 to 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Saturday, May 10, is the sheep weigh-in from 9 to 11 a.m. May 12 and 13 is Clothing Selection and Fashion Revue judging. Members were encouraged to read the county newsletter. Robyn McCrea explained the $15 Challenge and Karen Adams reminded everyone that the Fashion Revue and Clothing Selection forms are due May 1. Diane Stewart explained how FSQA worked. Kelsey Degroot led the 4-H pledge. Dana VanRentergham moved to adjourn the meeting and Kaden VanMaanen seconded. Presentations were done by Cody Van Donselaar on live traps, Dylan Van Donselaar on how to plug a tire, Emily Van Donselaar on caring for rabbits, Kaila Wheeldon on a six by six scrapbook page, and Kelsey DeGroot on peanut butter play dough. Our hosts were Cody, Dylan and Emily Van Donselaar and Bank Iowa. Our next meeting will be May 12 at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church.
