Published August 20, 2008 11:03 am - Several local youth take home State Fair scholarships By JERRY PERKINS THE REGISTER DES MOINES — Here are the 2008 Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement Winner’s Circle scholarships awarded Saturday at the Iowa State Fair: Iowa Select Farms Scholarship, $5,000 each to Jolene Glenn of Elk Grove, Cal., Samantha Groves of Kamrar, Erin Steffensmeier of West Point and Kaleb Groenenboom of Oskaloosa. Bruce Rastetter Agricultural Entrepreneurial Scholarship, $5,000 to Jessica Shifflett of Osceola. Bruce Rastetter Animal Science Scholarship, $5,000 to Zane Gray of Toledo. Bruce Rastetter Biorenewable Resource Scholarship, $5,000 to Nathan Upah of Clutier. Alliant Energy-Interstate Power & Light Scholarship, $3,000 to Adair Boysen of Columbus Junction. Bettle Family Scholarship (Robert and Virginia Bettle), $2,500 to Jacob Petersen of Knoxville. IFAA Overall Project Scholarship, $2,000 each to Morgan Greiman of Garner, Michelle Thole of Manchester and Brandon Werner of Shannon City. IFAA Excellence in Beef Participation Scholarship, $2,000 to Samantha Frederick of Tipton. IFAA Excellence in Sheep Participation Scholarship, $2,000 to Alecia Moser of Garden Grove. IFAA Excellence in Swine Participation Scholarship, $2,000 to Brady McNeil of Grand Mound. Timmins, Kroll, and Jacobsen Scholarship, $2,000 to Benjamin Shivers of Bondurant. Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Scholarship, $1,500 to Gavin Yager of Audubon. Swine Industry Scholarship, $1,500 to Keaton Greiner of Keota. Iowa Purebred Swine Council Scholarship, $1,500 each to Andrew Platner of Lisbon and Jacob Schulte of Fort Madison. Pfizer Animal Health Swine Scholarship, $1,500 to Michael Slattery of Winthrop.
