— Willis and Jean Hinrichs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 12.
Willis was born to Fred and Maggie Hinrichs and grew up in Little Rock, Iowa. Jean was born in Oskaloosa to Frank and Pearl Terpstra. They met in Des Moines on a blind date set up by their siblings, Harold and Anna Mae Klaasen and Clarence and Harriett Bennink.
Willis is retired from John Deere in Ankeny. Jean is retired from Des Moines Area Community College where she worked in the food service department.
They have four children: Kenley and Susan of Boise, Idaho; Curt, of Des Moines; Vonnie and Kent Whitmore, of Ankeny; and Jeff and Launa, of Ankeny. They also have eight grandchildren, Alicia, Bryce, Christian, Hayley, Abby, Samantha, Maggie and William.
