— Geneva Goemaat celebrated her 80th birthday on Wednesday, March 12.
She was born to Robert and Alta Stout in New Sharon in 1928 and attended school in that area and in Cedar Falls. She was married to Leonard Goemaat on Feb. 14, 1948, and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Children of the couple are Connie (Juan) Jimenez, of Aurora, Colo.,; Tom (Terese), of Ottumwa; Cathy (Jim) Martin, of Stevens Point, Wis.; and Steve (Shirley), of New Sharon. She has nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides her devotion to her family and home, she also worked as a teacher, at the hospital, for Dr. Sloan and for Weight Watchers.
