— Helen Veldhuizen will observe her 95th birthday May 22.
Helen was a long-time resident of Cedar. She was born on May 22, 1913, near Leighton to Jacob and Anna De Bruin. She was united in marriage to Frank Veldhuizen on Dec. 3, 1936. They were married 40 years before his death on April 21, 1977.
Their family is Marilyn Boender, Galen and Betty Veldhuizen, of Oskaloosa; Chuck and Marsha Veldhuizen, of Cedar Rapids; Lu and Nancy Veldhuizen, of Cedar; Loren and Nelly Veldhuizen, of Orange City; and Bob and Rosalie Strabbing, of Hudsonville, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
