Theme for Lighted Christmas Parade announced

The Oskaloosa Herald

OSKALOOSA — The Main Street Oskaloosa Lighted Christmas Parade Committee has released the theme for the 21st annual parade.

The theme chosen is “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” This theme will easily encompass many events. The Parade Committee hopes to work with the George Daily Auditorium, the Oskaloosa Christian School, the McNeill Stone Mansion and other groups to make this a fabulous celebration.

The parade is set for Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4 and 5. The parade begins each evening at 7 p.m. The committee is putting together quality entertainment, fabulous food, shopping specials, a holiday concert and more. Several area churches and service organizations are continuing to plan and organize events surrounding the Lighted Christmas Parade as well.

So, put your thoughts in motion, think family, think friends and bring back memories of Christmas at home. Remember, if the competition is important to you, the judging will be held on Thursday evening. As you begin to plan for related activities, contact the OACDG to have these events placed in the parade brochure. Several tour groups and individuals have already requested information on the Lighted Christmas Parade 2007.

Many volunteers are needed, especially in this the 21st annual year to make the event a success. If you would like to be a part of the planning, contact the Main Street office of the Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group at 672-2591 or email to oskycofc@oacdg.org.
