Pella Corp., a leader in the window and door industry, earned the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s World Achievement Award, presented by the Greater Iowa JDRF Chapter, recognizing the company’s leadership in helping others.
Pella Corp. President and CEO Mel Haught said that Pella team members raised $210,213 in their fifth official year of support for the cause.
“We’re especially proud of the Pella Corporation team members in the United States and Canada who together with their friends, families and communities collectively raised more than $1.4 million for diabetes research in just five years,” Haught said.
Haught credits the fund-raising success to the dedication of individuals committed to helping find a cure for diabetes.
“We thank the many generous businesses and individuals for the incredible effort they have dedicated to raising millions for diabetes research,” Haught said. “JDRF is one of the most efficient charities around when it comes to using resources responsibly and Pella Corporation is proud to help support their important cause,” Haught said.
Through JDRF, volunteers raise money for research to help find a cure for the disease which affects more than 20 million Americans. Although juvenile diabetics rely on insulin to survive, it is not a cure. Over time, diabetes takes its toll on virtually every organ in the body. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation gives more money directly to diabetes research than any other private health agency in the world.
