A 38-year-old Oskaloosa man agreed to plead guilty to six serious misdemeanor charges dating from incidents that occurred in 2006 and 2007.
In three intertwined cases, Jeffrey Allen Fisher on Jan. 24 entered written pleas of guilty to three counts of dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor and to two counts of indecent exposure to a minor. Fisher on Monday entered a written plea of guilty to one count of assault causing bodily injury.
On Monday, Judge Michael R. Stewart sentenced Fisher to one year in prison for each of the six counts, which he then suspended for probation. Fisher received a total of five consecutive years and one concurrent year of probation with the 8th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.
According to the petition to plead guilty, Fisher admitted that he on or about a date between Sept. 1, 2006, and June 15, 2007, and again in May 2007, in Mahaska County, knowingly exhibited obscene material during two different incidents so that three separate minors could view it. On or about a date in May 2007, in Mahaska County, Fisher admitted he exposed his genitals to two separate minors in order “to arouse or satisfy my sexual desires.” Fisher admitted that on May 19, 2007, in Mahaska County, he assaulted John Armstrong, causing bodily injury.
Judge Stewart gave Fisher five days to register as a sex offender with the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and abide by Iowa’s 2,000-foot residency restriction.
Each of the six counts are serious misdemeanors, punishable by fines of $315 to $1,875 and up to one year in prison.
Judge Stewart also ordered Fisher to pay a $315 fine, plus the costs of prosecution and a criminal penalty surcharge. He also issued six no-contact orders, which remain in effect until March 17, 2013.
