Published May 08, 2008 10:58 am - In the early 1920s, when airplane pilots were barnstorming around the country in single-engine, open-cockpit planes, many stopped at Prine Field, west of Oskaloosa, to have their engines serviced and refueled. Col. Charles Lindberg gave Mr. Fred Stevenson, of Oskaloosa, a ride in his plane after he serviced it.
