Three arrested on burglary charges

Three people are facing burglary charges after being arrested near Champion Storage.
On Sunday, May 18, at approximately 6:15 a.m., an off-duty police officer observed suspicious activity in the 1200 block of South Seventh Street, according the a release from the Oskaloosa Police Department.
Upon further investigation, several storage units at Champion Storage had been broken into and numerous items had been taken.
Christopher Roberts, 34, of What Cheer, Jerome Chamberlin, 18, of Beacon, and a minor, 17, of What Cheer, were arrested at the scene at approximately 10 a.m.
The adults were incarcerated in the Mahaska County Jail and the minor was detained at the Chariton Juvenile Detention Center.
All three are being charged with nine counts of second-degree burglary, according to the release. Second-degree burglary is a class C felony and carries a fine of up to $10,000 and a maximum of 10 years in prison.
All items stolen from the storage units have been recovered, according to the release.
