A Blue Grass man is in custody on robbery charges from Davenport after Oskaloosa police officers apprehended him Friday evening.
At around 8:15 p.m., the Davenport Police Department contacted the Oskaloosa Police Department and requested their assistance in apprehending a suspected bank robber who was reportedly in the Oskaloosa area. It was reported that the suspect was at the Jiffy convenience store, 315 A Ave. E., according to a press release from the Oskaloosa Police Department.
Upon the Oskaloosa police officers’ arrival, the suspect fled from the store’s parking lot on foot. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and captured him in the 500 block of North Third Street.
The suspect was identified as John Anthony Hutter, 49, of Blue Grass. He was taken to the Mahaska County Jail. Davenport Police charged Hutter with first-degree robbery, a class B felony. He allegedly robbed a Davenport bank on June 2, according to the press release.
Hutter made his initial court appearance in Mahaska County on June 6. He remains in the Mahaska County Jail on $100,000 bond, according to the press release.
