Mahaska supervisors tackle multiple issues

— The Mahaska County supervisors tackled a wide array of issues Tuesday morning ranging from law enforcement to health insurance.
The supervisors unanimously approved 28E agreements between the county and the cities of University Park and Beacon for law enforcement patrols.
Chairman Greg Gordy said the agreements are the same as the existing contracts between the county and the two cities and are renewed annually.
The agreement with University Park is for $4,200 for eight hours of patrols per week. The contract was dated to begin on July 1. The agreement with Beacon was for $3,400 for six hours of patrols per week. That contract was set to begin Aug. 1.
The supervisors also unanimously approved two modifications to the county health insurance program. The first one dealt with new legislative language that state had passed. The second change covered diagnostic lab work ordered by a doctor but performed by an outside lab. Under the new provision, such lab work would be covered by insurance.
The supervisors also unanimously approved a contract between the county and Mahaska Health Partnership for Community Health services.
In other action, the supervisors appointed Richard Ray Johnson and Don De Witt to the Compensation Board.
