Published October 10, 2008 09:47 am - Candidate forum Monday at ISU Extension By DUANE NOLLEN The Oskaloosa Herald OSKALOOSA — Local candidates for county offices and Iowa House and Senate seats will appear at a candidate forum sponsored by The Oskaloosa Herald and KBOE Radio Monday night.
The forum will be held at the Iowa State University Extension office, 212 N. I St., in Oskaloosa at 6 p.m. The forum will last about 90 minutes. The forum will be covered by The Herald, broadcast by KBOE and filmed by the Communications Research Institute of William Penn University for later broadcast. The candidates who have confirmed that they would attend include Willie Van Weelden, Paul DeGeest, Richard Adams, Eric Palmer, Danny Carroll, Tom Rielly, Michael Hadley and Paul McKinley. The format of the candidate forum includes an introduction by Deb Van Engelenhoven, of The Oskaloosa Herald, followed by the candidates’ opening statements. Then, the candidates will answer questions posed by two moderators — Mary Glasscock and KBOE’s Scott Dailey. Then, the candidates can ask one question to their opponents. Next, the candidates will field questions from the audience, time permitting. The candidates then will give their closing remarks, followed by a conclusion by Van Engelenhoven.
