The family of a Fremont man who has been missing for 10 days are asking people to check their unused buildings and property for their son.

Jacob Allen Reeves, 26, is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. When he went missing on Saturday, Oct. 18, he was wearing jeans, a tan shirt and a camouflage coat, and was probably on foot from Fremont.

The last time anyone has seen Jacob was at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, in Oskaloosa. Jacob had recently began taking new medications for a mental condition. These medications often leave him spacy and tired.

On Saturday, he had been helping Al Bunnell, the dad of his friend, Dusty, work on the roof of a house in University Park.

Dusty Bunnell said Jacob was really quiet and tired when he saw him on Saturday. He had gone to work with Dusty’s dad for an hour or two on the house in University Park, but was having trouble working. Dusty said when he talked with him, Jacob said he was going to go home and sleep, leaving Dusty’s house at approximately 1:30 p.m. Dusty said there was not an argument and nothing seemed out of the ordinary before Jacob left.

When Cindy Reeves got home at approximately 4:30 p.m., she saw Jacob’s truck was in the driveway, but he was gone. Steve Reeves, Jacob’s dad, slept that afternoon and did not hear his son come home.

Cindy said it was unlikely he got a ride with someone because he did not associate with many people.

Dusty said Jacob didn’t mention anywhere else he would go.

“I’ve exhausted my brain trying to think of where he might go,” Dusty said.

Jacob likes to camp and fish, but he did not appear to take any supplies from the house before he left.

“He walked away with nothing but his coat,” Steve said.

Dusty said Jacob, who does not have a cell phone, has memorized Dusty’s number.

“I know if he’s somewhere, he knows how to get in touch with me,” Dusty said. So far, Jacob hasn’t called Dusty.

Steve Reeves searches for his son each day, checking the woods and ditches. Steve and Cindy have placed flyers in Oskaloosa, Fremont and Ottumwa.
