By a 2-1 ratio, those who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: Which football team will be better prepared for 2008? The Hawkeyes or The Cyclones? said THE HAWKEYES.
Twenty-two — 66.67 percent — answered THE HAWKEYES and 11 — 33.33 percent — said THE CYCLONES.
The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.
This week’s Question of the Week deals with recycling.
April 22 is Earth Day and this year will be the 38th anniversary of the day that is devoted to learning about and preserving the environment.
As Earth Day approaches, Oskaloosa will soon benefit from curbside recycling.
Recycle Midwest, a subsidiary of KAL Services Inc., began curbside recycling in Oskaloosa about a month ago, and Red Rock Rubbish will begin curbside recycling in May.
People can get green recycling bins to place their newspaper, office paper, tin cans, glass and cardboard. The two services will have vehicles that will go around town to collect the recyclables.
Recycling is a growing trend in the United States. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2006, people across the nation recycled 82 million tons of trash — up from 15 million tons of garbage 26 years ago.
Will Oskaloosa residents continue this trend?
What do you think?
This week’s Question of the Week: Will you use curbside recycling? YES or NO.
People can vote on The Herald’s Web site, oskaloosa.com, from Monday through noon on Friday. Then, votes will be tallied and published the following Monday.
