Most of the people who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: Earthquake: rock your world or just a snoozer? apparently slept through it.
Eight — 36.36 percent — answered ROCK YOUR WORLD while 14 — 63.64 percent answered SNOOZER.
The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.
This week’s Question of the Week deals with summer travel and skyrocketing gas prices.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources on Thursday released the April gasoline report. In Iowa, the average price for 10 percent ethanol is $3.40 per gallon — an 8.6 percent increase from March’s average price of $3.13 per gallon. Also, diesel fuel climbed 20 cents from March to $4.14 per gallon in April, according to the report.
“Relatively strong inventories and lowered U.S. demand, factors that typically push gasoline prices down, have had little impact on the prices drivers are paying at the pump this spring,” said Iowa DNR Program Planner Jim Bodensteiner. “Speculation on commodities valued in U.S. dollars, including especially crude oil, continues to push crude, gasoline and diesel prices to record highs.”
Will this impact people’s vacation plans?
