There was a tie in this past week’s Question of the Week: Is Joe Biden an asset or liability for Obama’s campaign?
Twenty-six — 50 percent — answered ASSET while 26 — 50 percent — said LIABILITY.
The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.
This week’s Question of the Week deals with Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s choice of running mate.
This past Thursday, McCain named Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate in the November election. They take on Democratic Sens. Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Palin brings many positives to McCain. She is a social conservative, which shores up McCain’s support among conservative Republicans. Also, Palin’s gender helps McCain’s appeal to women and acts as a diversity counter balance to Obama’s African-American heritage.
However, over the weekend, there were revelations that Palin’s teenage daughter, Bristol, is pregnant. Also, Palin has retained a private attorney to represent her in an investigation into the firing of the state public safety commissioner, the Associated Press reported.
“The vetting process was completely thorough and I’m grateful for the results,” McCain told reporters in Philadelphia. Also, in Ohio, McCain said “I just want to repeat again how excited I am to have Sarah Palin, the great governor of Alaska, as my running mate.”
Is Palin an asset or liability for McCain.
