By DUANE NOLLEN The Oskaloosa Herald OSKALOOSA — Almost everyone who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: What do you plan to do with your stocks? answered RIDE OUT THE STORM. Forty — 97.56 percent — answered RIDE OUT THE STORM while 1 — 2.44 percent — said SELL NOW. No one said SELL LATER. The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them. This week’s question deals with the presidential debates and their impact on voters. Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama squared off on in the final presidential debate this past Wednesday night. McCain went on the offensive to blunt Obama’ lead in the polls as he assailed the Democrat on his character and positions on issues such as taxes and abortion. Obama shot back that 100 percent of McCain’s ads are negative. Also, when confronted about trying to tie McCain to President Bush, Obama said McCain voted with Bush most of the time. The focus of the presidential campaign is in a handful of states — Virginia, Colorado and Iowa — that voted Republican in 2004 and that Obama now has a lead, the Associated Press reports. With Obama in the lead in Iowa, did McCain do a good enough job to turn the tide? Was his debate performance too little too late? What do you think? This week’s Question of the Week: Did the debates help you choose a candidate? YES or No. People can vote on The Herald’s Web site, oskaloosa.com, from Monday through noon on Friday. Then, votes will be tallied and published the following Monday.
