Question of the Week: Do you plan to travel for the holidays?

By DUANE NOLLEN
The Oskaloosa Herald

OSKALOOSA

From the responses to this past week’s Question of the Week: Which bowl game will the Hawkeyes get? Outback, Alamo or “Toilet” bowl, the Hawkeyes are swirling around.

Sixteen — 30.77 percent — answered OUTBACK, 11 — 21.15 percent — said ALAMO and 25 — 48.08 percent replied “TOILET” Bowl.

The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.

This week’s Question of the Week deals with holiday travel plans.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and a month later, Christmas and New Years will be here.

Finally, gasoline prices are down to below $2 a gallon. However, there’s not much to cheer — the economy is in decline; Wall Street is getting a government bailout; and now the auto industry is teetering on the edge of collapse.

This isn’t a harbinger for a very happy holiday season.

But, Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday for family and friends to gather for food and fellowship. Many hit the roads or the airport to make a trek home.

Will the sour economy keep you from making the journey, or will lower gas prices give you just enough slack in your family budget for holiday travel?

What do you think?

This week’s Question of the Week: Do you plan to travel for the holidays? YES or NO.

People can vote on The Herald’s Web site, oskaloosa.com, from Monday through noon on Friday. Then, votes will be tallied and published the following Monday.
