Calvin Smith, of Oskaloosa, found this tiny morel mushroom about 9 a.m. Wednesday in Mahaska County, just outside Oskaloosa. “I’m so avid (about mushroom hunting), I’ve been out five or six times already this year,” Smith said.

Tom Holdsworth, of Oskaloosa, shot this turkey at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 18, on the first day of the second turkey season. The turkey weighed 28 pounds and had a 9 1/2 inch beard and 3/4-inch spurs.
