Published August 15, 2008 09:07 am - Time to signup for Lake Keomah Antlerless Deer Hunt The Oskaloosa Herald OSKALOOSA — WHAT: Lake Keomah Antlerless Deer Hunt WHEN: Oct. 1, 2008 to Jan. 25, 2009 Application for new participants for the archery-only special deer hunt licenses at Lake Keomah State Park will begin on Friday, Aug. 15. Send, your request by mail or email. No phone requests will be accepted. Applications must include name, complete address, and phone number. Incomplete applications will be discarded. All applications must, be received by Aug. 31. Mail to: Lake Keomah State Park, Deer Application, 2720 Keomah Lane, Oskaloosa, IA 52577 or e-mail to: Merle.Miller@dnr.iowa.gov. All new applicants, must pass an archery proficiency test, held during the orientation class. When the orientation class is completed, a letter will be given to explain details of the special hunt. Note that the orientation class is mandatory for all participants — those who have participated before and new applicants. Your application will be rescended if you fail to attend the class. Once you receive your registration confirmation slip, you may go to the Mahaska Country Recorder’s Office before Oct. 17 to purchase your license. The Recorder’s Office is the only vendor that is authorized to sell the license for the Lake Keomah hunt. Recorder Office hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fifty licenses will be sold. A single any-sex, anterless license will be drawn for in 2009 for the 2009-2010 hunting season. There will be only one orientation class, at the Alternative Building, 300 S. 11th St., Oskaloosa from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18.
