OSKALOOSA July 03, 2008 09:08 am

The Southern Iowa Speedway was rolled in and ready to host the 13th Annual MUSCO Lighting Great American Stock Car Shootout on Wednesday night, but Mother Nature intervened with rain and caused the event to be postponed.
Action is still on as planned for Thursday at the Cresco Speedway, while the event at Oskaloosa has been postponed to next Wednesday, July 9.
The big money is now up for grabs at the Southern Iowa Speedway next Wednesday. Stock Car drivers will have a chance to compete for a $1,500 winner’s share of the purse at Osky while Hobby Stock drivers will be battling for $700 to win. MUSCO Lighting USRA Modifieds will again be racing for a $1,000 top prize while the Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods will compete for $700 to win on the Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster.
Both events are presented by Plain Motorsports of Webster City, and both events will award track and national points in the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series. However, drivers do not need a USRA license to compete in this annual blockbuster.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. both days and grandstand gates open for general admission seating at 5:30. Hot laps are slated for 7 and the mud starts flying at 7:30 p.m.
