The Oskaloosa Mahaska American All-Stars softball team advanced to the state tournament with a two-game sweep of the Monroe County All-Stars.
Oskaloosa won the first gam 14-2 at Albia as Shelby Allgood threw five innings, gave up the two runs on four hits and struck out four while walking one.
Ali Andeway led Oskaloosa with a pair of doubles and a single. Marissa Sharp had three singles while Allgood, Kelsie Tomlin, Kailyn Risher and Jacey Van Roekel all singled twice. Kirsti Edwards, Kylie Hill, Shawni Wills, Bridgette Richards and Emily Allison all had a single.
In the second game, Oskaloosa held on for a 5-4 win in eight innings in Oskaloosa.
Allgood was the top hitter for Oskaloosa with three singles as Tomlin and Risher both had a single.
Callie Arnold went one inning as pitcher, allowing one hit and walked four. Allison pitched seven innings, giving up seven hits, walking three and striking out five.
Oskaloosa’s first game at the state tournament is Thursday at Ballard High School at 6 p.m.
